VERY IMPORTANT STUFF - Please read this:
  • This "event" is made possible by the combined effort of a LOT of people volunteering their time and skills. We do it because we like to throw a great party, its got a great theme, and it allows us to give something back to our community (and big fires are cool). Everything you will see there; the huge stage, the second stage, the trails, signage, camping areas, all the tents for food & crafts, etc., and all the material to make it happen was donated by this group of special people.
  • This event is being held on private property. For these reasons EVERYONE attending the event must sign a disclaimer (print name, sign name, drivers license number) due to liability issues. PLEASE click HERE, download the disclaimer and bring it with you already filled out to speed up the check-in process at the gate.
  • All the people who make this happen, the staff, volunteers & musicians, do it AT NO CHARGE. We do NOT charge an entrance fee, but PLEASE DONATE at the gate. We do have expenses to cover (portable restrooms, sound equipment, etc.). Profit after expenses will be sent to this years chosen charity.
  • At the gate you will sign the disclaimer, be asked for a donation, and receive an arm band. NO ONE is allowed in without an arm band.
  • Anyone not playing nicely may be asked to leave.
  • What is the appropriate donation?
$5/person if paid in advance, $10 at the gate.(10 & under no problem)
There is a small location fee for camping:
tent or vehicle campers (cars/vans) additional $7.00 (no electricity)
RV or towed campers additional $15.00 (can plug-in for power)
Note: no generators in the tent sites.
All donations cover the entire event
  • Please bring some cash for the gate - making change may be an issue. You may need more $ for an authentic event t-shirt, items from the band merchandise tent and other vendors
  • We still need some help - please inquire at the gate or send email now.

The event formerly known as Burning Man is not in any way political, ethnic, or some strange religous thing. It is a personal spiritual experience (and a really big party).

Note: We need help with several committees. We need as many people as possible to help pull this off so that no one has to do too much. Please consider helping in this regard, or send someone else!
E-Mail for details.

The Event Formerly Known as DeLand Burning Man festival is based on a Native American Indian new years cleansing ritual. We try to keep with the original spirit of the ceremony where you remove things from your life in a ritualistic way, things that bother you, things you need to put out of your life. You can bring "things" to BURN, or just simply write something on a piece of paper to signify what you want to rid yourself of and toss it into the fire. You may also tie (small) things to the man before we torch him. SAVE and bring your old Christmas tree!

Its also an awesome party! Last year approximately 400 attended!

This "New Year Cleansing Ritual" is scheduled to begin Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, for campers. Camp set-up and music begins on Friday, noon. The event is primarily on Saturday - Clean-up and camp tear-down on Sunday.

IMPORTANT: We encourage you to camp out - its fun - its in the spirit of this thing - and you might not want to drive home after the event - just do it! Camp set-up starts at NOON on Friday. We'll have a meal formerly known as the DeLand Burning Man Breakfast on Sunday morning for campers who help clean-up! ALL campers, tent or RV, are asked to contact the Mayor of Tent City to reserve your spot - we need to know how many of each type for better planning.

Grills will be set-up so you can cook at the event. You might also want to bring things like drinks, food, a blanket, folding chairs, etc. - stuff to get comfortable with.

Activities this year include (see Activities Page for details) Drum Circle, Art Projects, Kids Activity area, Interactive Activities of randomly organized teams, Spokenword/Poetry/Performance art area. Plus, we'll have an area set-up for Arts & Crafts where you can construct your own small Burning Man to keep as a momento or to toss into the fire. We also encourage you to come out before the event and build your own Burning Man Sculptural Art Piece.

If you play an instrument bring it & go acoustic with the event formerly known as the DeLand Burning Man Jam Late Night Drum Circle

This location is at a private home - please respect their property and place garbage in the cans and any recycleable items in the proper containers.

This is an all afternoon and half the night thing, especially if you want to set-up camp. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO CAMP! Camp set-up starts on Friday. Look for the Mayor of Tent City upon arrival.

We TORCH the MAN at 10:00 pm on Saturday!
This is by invitation only. Don't know how to get there? E-Mail The event formerly known as Burning Man

This is a BIG fire, it puts out a lot of heat, hopefully it will be a cold night.

Charlie Gear’s newest CD, Ode To The Laurel Lass, will be ready and available at the event. It is a collection of Celtic/Blues instrumental compositions.
